Diamond Jubilee Walk – Guru Dakshina – B. E. College 1966-71 Batch To commemorate our first day at Bengal Engineering College (now IIEST, Shibpur) six decades ago, we 1966–71 batchmates assembled at College Campus on July 11, 2026, for a memorable Diamond Jubilee Walk. The day began in the morning at the Guest House, where we dressed ourselves in our special light blue T-shirts and caps bearing the "BEC66-71" logo. Donning our matching attire, we took a nostalgic tour of the campus. We visited our respective academic departments, Downing Hall, and other hostels, alongside other iconic landmarks such as the Slater Archives, the Oval and the Lords playgrounds. Following the campus walk, we held an engaging one-and-a-half-hour meeting with Prof. V.M.S.R. Murthy, Director and Prof. Anirban Gupta, Dean-IRAA. After brief self-introductions, our primary discussions focused on the future upgradation and development of our historic institute. At the conclusion of the meeting, our batch proudly presented a Demand Draft of Rs 2,25,000 as "Guru Dakshina" to our Alma Mater, a token of our enduring gratitude. Indrajit Karmakar, 1971 Mechanical
