GAABESU offers scholarships, fellowships, and research awards to needy and meritorious students at IIEST, Shibpur. The Alumni scholarship program started in the US in 1998. Because of it success it grew from US to other countries and it is one of the most successful programs by GAABESU.

It is the vision of the alumni of IIEST to project it as a successful and a leading institution of learning and research. One of the main components towards fulfilling that goal would be to recruit the best minds as students. In order to attract the best candidates to IIEST, the educational opportunity at IIEST needs to be based purely upon merit and not on one’s financial background.
These scholarships have been created by contributions from the alumni globally since 1998. The number of scholarships varies yearly depending on the funds available and the number of qualifying applicants. A Scholarship Sub Committee has been formed by GAABESU Executive Committee, where representatives from all participating Alumni Chapters in India and abroad co-ordinate with IIEST faculty & administration. A scholarship management procedure has also been developed by GAABESU to bring about a documented, fair and a transparent selection process, which is published at GAABESU website:
GAABESU is hereby announcing 82 “Need Based” Scholarships. 3 Special Scholarships for 1st Year Students, each valued Rs. 25,000/-. The numbers may vary slightly, based upon Donor confirmations, but that would not affect the application procedures. A list of available Scholarships will be displayed on GAABESU notice board & website and it will be updated from time to time.

👉Becoming a Student Member of GAABESU is a pre-requisite for any applicant for Scholarships, AFE Awards & Research Awards. You can join GAABESU through our website (gaabesu.in). Hence, please ensure that and contact GAABESU Office in IIEST Campus Guest House.
👉Applicant’s certified annual family income does NOT exceed Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakh).
👉Applicants must score SGPA more than 8.00 in the last semester of the previous year in IIEST. For 4th Year student – 6th semester, 3rd Year student – 4th semester, 2nd Year student – 2nd semester shall be considered. Records of previous semester scores shall also be considered for consistency in academics.
📌SPECIAL CASES:
👉Applicant with annual family income less than Rs. 100,000/- (Rupees One lakh) can apply for Scholarship, even though SGPA is less than 8.00.
👉First year students who do NOT have last semester result, can apply for the scholarships reserved for 1st year students only.
👉Applicant does NOT receive scholarship from any other source in this academic year. However, students having full or partial tuition fee waiver (as per IIEST policy) can apply for GAABESU Scholarship.
👉No disciplinary action had been taken against the applicant in IIEST
👉Applicant understands that the scholarship is given on a yearly basis. The applicant should apply afresh if he/she is looking for scholarship in the present year. Getting the scholarship for a particular year may not influence the decision in subsequent years.
👉Applicant agrees that the scholarship money is to be used towards his/her educational expenses only. He/she shall be fully responsible for maintaining his/her accounts regarding usage of the fund received. Donor of the scholarship has the right to ask details of accounts any time and the recipient has to furnish the same immediately.
👉Only if required, and in some special cases, Scholarship Interview will be arranged through video call date & time and log in procedure will be sent to each applicant by e-mail. Accordingly, the applicant shall attend the interview.‘No show’ by the applicant during Scholarship interview, shall automatically lead to rejection of the scholarship. Should there be any valid reason for absence on specified date & time, it shall be informed to GAABESU Office in advance and by e-mail with justification. In that case the application will not be rejected and alternate date & time may be allocated for the candidate.
👉In case ANY information submitted by the student in the Application found to be NOT correct or Form is altered, it shall automatically lead to rejection of the Scholarship.
GAABESU does not discriminate applicants based on gender, race, religion, caste, political affiliation, medical history, family background, domicile state, nationality, etc. However, scholarship specific criteria (specified by respective Donors) shall apply during the selection process.

This year “GAABESU Scholarships & Awards Distribution Ceremony” will be held in the month of January/February 2026. The date and schedule will be published on GAABESU Website.
Each recipient will be notified with the Scholarship details, Donor’s name & contacts and amount by e-mail. All recipients shall acknowledge the email and attend the Distribution Ceremony. Absence without prior written intimation by email, will be considered as ‘No Show’ and Scholarship may be withdrawn.
After Distribution Ceremony, the Scholarship fund will be deposited at the recipient’s bank account (as mentioned in the Application form) directly. Each recipient needs to acknowledge receipt and send a ‘Thank You’ note to the respective Donor.
GAABESU launched their “Alumni Fellowship for Excellence” program from 2008-09 to award students who demonstrates outstanding performances in academics, sports, leadership qualities, performing arts, etc.
GAABESU is happy to announce, the “Alumni Fellowship for Excellence” (AFE) Awards Programme with at least 28 awards,of a total value of Rs. 7,29,500/- which will be awarded to IIEST Students this year, from the corpus funds donated by alumni worldwide. AFE Awards Interview:
AFE Interview (in person) will be scheduled at GAABESU Office on: (to be informed later)
The shortlisted applicants will be communicated individually by e-mail that they have been selected for AFE Interview and reporting time at GAABESU Office. It will be sent to the same e-mail from which the application is received. The applicant shall confirm by reply mail their availability for the interview in person.
In case that date and/or time is not suitable due to any reason, the applicant shall send a formal request by email (GAABESU.Scholarship@gmail.com) to change the interview date with justifications in advance. Accordingly a new interview date will be allocated.
NOTE: ‘No show’ by the applicant during AFE Awards interview, shall automatically lead to rejection of the award.

All recipients shall acknowledge the email and attend the Distribution Ceremony. Absence without prior written intimation by email, will be considered as ‘No Show’ and AFE Award may be withdrawn.
After Distribution Ceremony, the AFE Award fund will be deposited at the recipient’s bank account (as mentioned in the Application / Declaration Form) directly. Each recipient need to acknowledge receipt and send a ‘Thank You’ note to the respective Donor.
GAABESU Research Award Programme: 2025-26
GAABESU is happy to announce the “GAABESU Research Excellence Award” for this academic year 2025-26 under its Scholarship Programme to promote research work among the UG & PG Students.
This award will be given for there search work which can be presented/published to the national and international professional events and/or publications.

The selection of the research work for nomination to the awardswillbedonebythefollowingcommitteespeciallyconstitutedforthispurpose,byGAABESUrepresentingactivealumniengagedinteachingandresearch.
All under graduate and post graduate students of this Institute are requested to fill up the application form online on GAABESU Website.

This year “GAABESU Scholarships & Awards Distribution Ceremony” will be held in the month of January/February 2026. The date and schedule will be published at GAABESU Website.
