Support my mother to recover from brain haemorrhage

I am Kartikey Shukla, resident of village- Ranipur Bhatt, District- Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, India. I am a 2021 graduate from Electronics and Telecommunication Department of IIEST, Shibpur.

My mother Prabhat Kiran aged 45 years had an accident on 30th January and she has undergone Brain Hemorrhage surgery and is on ventilator support since then at Anand Hospital, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh under Neurosurgeon Dr. Kartikey Sharma. The daily expenses for a ventilator+ICU system, and medicines is around ₹40,000.

She has undergone Tracheotomy surgery  to replace ventilator support but her brain injury is critical and also due to infection in her lungs she is not able to breath on her own and that's why she constantly needs ventilator support.

She has also underwent a CT scan on 22nd, and the results show water accumulation in her brain. She has undergone "Hydrocephalus surgery" on 24th February which requires the insertion of a shunt in her brain and few more days in ICU.

And hence the expenses of her treatment have risen further and we need the funds immediately for her treatment.

The last 4 weeks of campaigning made it to around 63% (₹ 9,51,378) of the target amount of INR 15 lakhs. Me & my family sincerely thanks all those kind hearted Alumni members for their generous support.

However, with the current situation, please consider supporting whatever you can and share this fundraiser among your friends and relatives!

Please donate as even small amounts will be of great help.

I have provided my UPI and Bank Account details below. I shall be ever grateful for your support.

EMERGENCY FUND APPEAL FOR TAMAL GHATAK 1985 EE

Dear all,

Tamal Ghatak (1985 EE)  has been suffering from Malignant " MELANOMA" since April' 2018. Some surgery treatment has been done with amputation of Left great Toe. It has relapsed. Doctors recommended Immunotherapy, which is a continuous therapy and may require around INR 30 Lakhs per year including other hospital expenses. Moreover, once it is started it has to be continued minimum for four years. This may need a cash expenditure of as big as INR 120 lakhs.

We request all to support  Tamal Ghatak  in any form (financially, morally) to overcome this challenge and pray for his quick  recovery.  Please send your donation to Mr. Ghatak directly to his Wife's account. The details are given below:

**********************************************************************************

We received an update from his friend Subrata Samanta which is appended below:

As it was informed earlier , Tamal  has been suffering from Malignant " MELANOMA" since April'2018. Some surgery treatment has been done with amputation of Left great Toe. It has relapsed. Doctors recommended Immunotherapy, which is a continuous therapy and may require around INR30L per year including other hospital expenses. Moreover, once it is started it has to be continued minimum for four years. This may need a cash expenditure of as big as INR 120 lakhs.

However the situation has worsened because of Severe Covid attack on him alongwith his wife and mother. All three have come out of danger of Covid related illness but this affected the ongoing treatment besides the fact that other than assistance from 1984 batch he hardly got any assistance. Just to give you an example of the situation he is in let me give you following information:

1. The immunotherapy which is provided through a kind of injection costs Rs. 1 lakh per injection and he needs two of them per month. The dose is something like 240 mg per injection. This got halted due to Covid attack.

2. On 26/11/2020 he has appointment with Doctor. the Doctors might advise to try with 40 mg instead of 240 mg dose in view of the financial crisis to check if that works to some extent but without having much idea about all those knowledge we all can imgine the real situation. 40 mg definitely cannot replace 240 mg.

It seems that KMC where he is working, could not provide him enough support  or may be nothing. I once talked to Mainak but he had no knowledge about Tamal at that time. Today tried calling him but he could not pick up my call - may be busy with Mayor or similar officials.

So unless and until assistance comes in large volumes from several corners it might be difficult to save his life, which I feel.

I have no answer or no solution is coming to my mind. I am therefore placing this in front of you.
I am also putting a request to some of the GAABESU members like Subrata Ghosh and Debal Banerjee to look into this matter if they can pursue the matter for mobilising fund from multiple sources. Our small donations are simply not enough and all of us have limitations which we all understand. Appeal has already been made by GAABESU in June 2020.
