The Global Alumni Association of Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (GAABESU) seeks to reach, serve and engage all its alumni, faculty and students; to foster a lifelong intellectual and emotional connection between the college and its graduates; and to enhance the capability of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (Formerly Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur) India.

The University's Development and Alumni Relations office exists to create and support an educated and engaged global community of BE College/BESUS/IIESTS advocates, ambassadors and supporters. We aim to keep alumni informed about the development of the University, to offer a wide range of programmes, events and benefits which meet alumni needs by enhancing the links between alumni wherever they are in the world.

Our first IIEST (formerly B. E. College, Shibpur) alumni website was created by Subrata Ghosh 84ME in 1997 with encouragement from Swapan Saha 88EE and materials support from Prasid Syam 84EE, Santanu Karmakar 83ME, Surajit Sinha 82MIN, Prof. Aditya Bandopadhya, and Director Dr. S M Chatterjee.  Subrata made a special visit to IIEST Shibpur (then BECDU) to collect materials to include in the original website and IIPC magazine was handy.  The website was created in the same year Alumni Scholarship program was initiated in the US by four alumni (Sripati Bhattacharyya 63EE, Subrata Ghosh 84ME, Tanmay Das 86CST, And Swapan Saha 88EE).  The original intent of the website was to make it a vehicle to connect global IIEST alumni members as well as raise donations for the alumni scholarship fund. The site was initially hosted free of charge in the server of Netguru. Inc (NASDAQ, NGRU), a company founded by B E College alumnus, Mr. Amrit Das. Subrata maintained the site until 2001. 

From 2001 through 2018, Swapan Saha managed the site with help from Pranesh Biswas 90CE, Chittaranjan Haty 00CST and Apurba Tribedi 94CE.

Subrata rejoined in the web development activity in 2019 and developed this new site to give it a comtemporary look and add more relevant contents. The site is currently being maintained by GAABESU with advisory support from Subrata Ghosh.
